What is bullet journal?

Hi! Welcome back

Perhaps you heard of bullet journaling or have seen one on Instagram while scrolling through the feed and became intrigued. Or perhaps you stumbled here and you have no idea what on earth this thing is and you're starting from square one. Great news! you're in the right place. I'm going to walk you through exactly what it is, where it came from, and what it can do for you.

For many people, getting organized is one of those items that remain on the top of their priority that never happens.

If you’re one of those individuals, chances are you’ve gone through dozens of notebooks, journals, planners, and apps in the hope of locking down that one organizational system that works for you.

If this sounds familiar, you might want to give bullet journaling a try. This organizational craze, which has taken over social media for a while now, is like a planner, to-do list, diary, and sketchbook all in one. It’s a trend that shows no sign of slowing down any time soon.

So, what exactly is bullet journaling and what’s the best way to get started?

A bullet journal or BUJO for short is an organizational system created by Ryder Carroll, a designer in NYC that helps you keep track of everything in your busy life. It’s a life hack, a physical place to store everything you need to do, remember, or give attention to. A bullet journal is way to keep organized in a fast-paced world.

This system is a combined hard version of a to-do list, reminders, tasks, lists, and anything else you need it to be, all in one place. And you don’t any fancy digital device. All you need is a pen and a notebook.

Unlike a planner with its preprinted pages, bullet journaling involves taking a blank notebook and creating your own ever-evolving system with which you keep your life organized.

What can you use a BULLET JOURNAL for?

The short answer: Everything.

The beauty of bullet journaling is that you can make

  • Boost your health – improve your sleeping and eating habits by tracking them and charting your progress. Map out your meals and fitness routine. Create a habit tracker.
  • Organize your finances – track and improve your finances by creating a monthly budget, tracking your daily spending, and set your savings goals.
  • Preserve your memories – plan trips and get together by creating packing lists and itineraries and then documents the fun and diary entry.
  • Track your habits

The bullet journal is a beautiful multi-faceted thing, and there's no way I could possibly cover everything in this post. But I do hope this post serves as a way to understand it more clearly.

WELCOME!

Welcome to my first blog! I have always enjoyed writing down my thoughts and feelings, to-do list. This involved keeping a personal diary or composition notebook in which I would cut out magazine pictures, and create collage or keep a notebook for collectives in which I would make a list of all the books I read to date or all the movies I watched. But as I got older and busy in life I didn’t get time to do all the stuff that I love. Little did I know that this would be something I would dive back into later in life.

I was first introduced to bullet journaling back when I was in senior high school by a famous Youtuber. This peaked my interest so I started looking up what Bullet journaling was. I was introduced to a world that I had long  forgotten but was very familiar with. At that time i did not have courage and time to start a bullet journal on my own.

I started my bullet journal journey in the first year of college. I got inspired by other bullet  journalists on Pinterest and Youtube and got the courage to start one of my own. I have been journaling now for two year straight  now  and it is something that I thoroughly enjoy and regret not starting earlier in my school life. Throughout this journey, bullet journal has helped me to stay grounded, focused, and mentally sound. I think we all tend to forget the benefit of going back to the old fashioned ways of writing things down on paper, saving memories, keeping daily logs in this digital world.

At the end of the day, when I sit down to write in my bullet journal it gives me a break from from the fast life we are living and from the pressure all around me. All in all bullet journal has given me the piece I lost in my childhood back and at the same time kept me on track of my life.
When I began journaling, I was so intimidated and overwhelmed by the beautiful spreads created by the other artists. But as I started journaling I realised what makes bullet journaling special. The bullet journal is for you and your needs, it is how you make it and not how others, it depends on you to make it functional and according to your needs. Your bullet journal should represent you and you only. But I did not understand this out right in the starting. It took me six months to make it functional for me. But now I’m here to help you and make sure you don’t do the same mistakes I made.

I am always looking for a reason to be inspired and to share it with others. I hope that my blog does just this for you.
